Pubes or Not?

by Beth Divine 9 Nov 2018

Hair is natural, body hair is almost even more so, but it’s funny how people who claim to like women who look ‘natural’ suddenly change their tune when they’re faced with a massive bush. ‘It’s not clean,’ they claim and, ‘It’s not nice to go down on.’ While the second might have some truth behind it (although most people’s pubes are quite easy to part to gain access to the action section and pubes don’t grow inside…) the first part actually isn’t. The vagina is self-cleaning, and pubes are an important barrier to dirt, germs and debris getting in there – there is an accredited link between the rise of diseases like gonorrhoea and chlamydia and complete public hair removal. So what are the options?

Embrace the Origin of the World

Leave your pubes alone. Let them grow, keep ‘em clean and embrace the massively hairy look. Pubes are like clothes, they go in and out of fashion with lengths and styles going up and down like skirt lengths and tee shirt opacity. So you find a pubic style that suits you and stick with it: this year’s unfashionable might be next year’s bang on trend!

Make an Effort…ish

If you don’t like the hugely hairy look, or are tired of hair poking out the sides of your knickers or swimming costume but can’t face full hair removal, opt for a landing strip or other shaped patch of pubes. This is a lot less effort than whisking off every vestige of hair, looks neat and tidy and you can wear your favourite knickers or swimming costume without worrying about containment issues. You can have a bit of fun with your pubes here, shaping them into triangles, rectangles or even getting templates so you can make some unusual shapes in your pubes – why not surprise him or her with a heart shaped strip?

Get It Off!

The full works, or a Brazilian, is the absolute removal of every vestige of hair from the pubic region, and it is currently very popular. Most porn stars have all their hair removed as it makes for easy access for both their co-stars and the camera. Because it is such a popular trend in porn, it has spilled over into society, and there are even some reports of schoolboys being horrified to learn that women actually grow pubes at all: their only experience with female genitals is from porn where hair removal, whether partial or complete, is the norm… However, removing all your pubes is a time-consuming (and athletic!) proposition if you shave, and painful if you wax. The process can leave micro-tears in the skin into which bacteria can easily get, causing infections and painful sores. Ingrown hairs and razor rash are also common, and neither of these are particularly attractive to look at…

There is, however middle ground in which she is trimmed and easily accessible, but the skin is left undamaged and there is enough hair left to offer some protection. Use clippers or scissors to trim the pubic hair until it is short enough for fun, without any of the harmful or negative side effects.

What is your preferred method of personal grooming? Why not switch it up for a change: let it grow if you are normally smooth as an egg, or go for a trim if you are usually sporting a 70s style floof?
