What is teledildonics and how can it improve your virtual reality porn experience?

by The Red Ghost 30 oct 2017
Watching virtual reality porn videos is great and will become even better in the future thanks to devices like Pimax 8K that will improve the sense of immersion thanks to higher resolution and field of view. But there's one things that really annoys me while watching a virtual reality adult video: the lack of sense of touch.

I mean, inside VR I could see myself inside a shower with 3 beautiful girls: we look each other and they start seducing me. They start caressing me, touching me and everything is so sexy and so real, but... I can't really feel their touch. Then things become more intimate and they begin touching me down there and I don't fell anything as well. When the intercourse starts, I can really see and hear the sounds of we having a wonderful sex all together, but I have no physical sensations at all. This is so bad. It breaks completely the magic of the moment, it makes you understand that everything you're seeing is fake. VR sex is not like real sex mainly because of this: there's nothing simulating the touch and especially, the strokes, of the virtual experience. Aren't there any devices able to simulate such sensations?

Actually, there are. While there's no current way to simulate touch sensations on all your body (unless you buy a super-expensive Tesla Suit!), there are companies working on automatic masturbators that you can use while watching porn videos, both standard and VR ones. These are the companies working on the so called "Teledildonics", that is, masturbation devices that can be remote controlled. Two of the most famous ones are Kiiro and Lovense. These companies produce masturbation gadgets (for both men and women), that can be controlled via Bluetooth. Often they get paired with an app on your smartphone, that lets you control the speed and intensity of the action: Lovense app lets you even synchronize the vibration of the women toy with a music playlist or with the voice that you input to the device. That allows for a new kind of foreplay, even in public spaces. But, how can these devices be used inside VR?

The concept is pretty simple: imagine that you play a VR video and that you put such a gadget in your private area (men's ones are like a tube, where you put your "gadget" in, while women ones are dildos to be inserted). While you watch the video, the video doesn't only send informations to your eyes and your ears (so that you see that you are inside the scene), but also to the teledildonics device, that will act accordingly to what the video shows. So, for instance, if a woman is caressing your penis, you would feel a soft touch. If you're having rough sex, you would feel hard and fast strokes. The same for women: more penetrations, would mean more vibrations. This could really take virtual reality sex to the next level, where it is so similar to real sex, that it could be really substitute it. But... are we really there?

Well... no. Reading some interesting reviews (especially this one and this other one), I've understood that there are still lots of issues, both in the devices and in the VR integration. Devices are still far from perfect: the Lovense has a really small entrance, so it strangles your penis when you insert it there; the Kiiro is better on this sense, but its best device is very bulky and weighs a bit less than 1kg! VR integration is made by someone that by hand has coded all the movement that the device has to perform during the video playback: this means that, being a long and tedious process, only few videos allow it. Furthermore, the worst part is that these devices can't absolutely simulate the sensation of penetration: Kiiro is able to emulate quite well only the sensation of blowjob, for instance. So, there is the sensation of something stimulating your private area, but this is completely different from the feelings of real sex. That's bad. Last problem is the price: these gadgets aren't super-cheap: Lovense Max costs €90 and Kiiro devices are far more expensive.

Teledildonics is still at its beginnings, as all the rest of the virtual reality ecosystem. At the moment it isn't able to emulate real sex, but can give you some fun anyway. What excites me the most is that if these gadgets will prove successful, more companies will start producing them, and this will take to new and improved versions that in the end we'll give us what we want: virtual sex feeling like real. And for sure PornFoxVR will be there offering it to you!

Furthermore, some companies could also develop adult social VR experiences, where people across the world could make virtual sex together, with the VR+teledildonics offering a complete intercourse sensation with a real person. This could be the next evolution...
